I hope everyone is off to a wonderful New Year and in back to work mode with your students. I am very new at blogging and I am still learning as I go along. With that being said, as I have been doing some research I have found many classrooms that have set up their own blogs! WOW!!!! I find this absolutely amazing. This is something I would love to do because I always love breaking out my classroom laptops and watching my students eyes beam with excitement. However, I have a problem. My district is very strict with what we have access too. In other words, I cannot even access my blog at work! :0( So, I would love any ideas you may have that I may be able to use, gain access too, or even be able to persuade the district personnel to allow me to incorporate. Any of your suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Again Happy 2011 and I hope everyone has a great 2nd semester!
Sincerely,
Kim Jordan
I can relate to your frustation!! There are many websites that have educational value I cannot use because they are blocked by the district. Also, I already approached my building principal about setting up a blog for my class and was told no. How many laptops do you have for your class?
ReplyDeleteDfort,
ReplyDeleteI have 27 laptops/netbooks. There is enough for each student to have their own in the classroom and it is wonderful. I have two fifth grade classes. So students do have to share with the other class, but it has not been a problem. I am currently working with our district's technology coach and we are trying to figure out a way in which we can at least set up our own classroom blog with district approval. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
